140 Miles
Start Salisbury End Salisbury
This route is primarily in Wiltshire, which
is an essentially rural county with some
of the most beautiful countryside in England.
The route dips into the New Forest in the
South before crossing the rolling fields
of Salisbury Plain (avoid the tanks where
possible) and touching on the Hampshire
Downs before returning to Salisbury and
the magnificence of Salisbury Cathedral
- the tallest church in England. On the
route stop and take in the ancient and mysterious
stone circles of Stonehenge and whilst you
are in the area, taste the local beer of
Gibbs Mew. If you dare (and are not looking
for an early start) sample the potent Bishops
Tipple.
